16 year old Children’s Book Illustrator

Felt Woman book one is at the printers !

Eventhough it didn’t make it for Christmas the important thing is that small quiet steps still get there and Christmas happens every year so you never really miss it, just catch it next time round!

It’s an exciting time. The illustrations for my book ‘Felt Woman’ are finished!

I have been working with a very talanted 16 year old, Shannah Usher, who was born with a sketch pad in her hand i’m sure! It is a inspiration to watch her creativity and her energy as she whisks up the most gentle, georgous drawings that are heart warming and in my case, heart mending.

This is the the first book this  talented young Artist has published her work in. Before everyone else snatches her up I want her to be the illustrator for the Felt Woman series and then there are all my other books!

She tells me her goal is to use the earnings from book illustration to help pay for her Veterinary Science Degree. YOU GO GIRL !

Enquiries  regarding  Shannah and bookings for her work  can be made through the contact/ comment section of this site.

By the way Shannah is a horse crazy girl. She has a cremello Kiamanawa Pony. Her room is like a horse collectors dream! I know she is writing a fabulous chapter book of her own, guess what it’s about !

Water Veil

blog-36

I was shown this painting in a dream. It is a waterfall with a world beyond.

When i thought i was finished the painting I stepped back and could see the woman. I sort of just traced her in.The painting is frammed in a dark wooden frame with gold embossed leaves at the corners. The leaves  represent the creation story. A reminder to keep asking the question.’who are we?’. This painting is hanging at the Real Tart Gallery, see the full view on the gallery site  taranakiarts.co.nz   The painting is framed.

$875.

What will Be?

blog-14This painting represents the moment in A&E when i struggled to breathe. I felt alone, icy cold and as if a great icy blast was ripping my chest appart. I could see my horse comming toward me and i knew if i held on to her she would carry me to a place I would be able to breathe again. She is a purebred Appaloosa, my beautiful soul  horse.

Land Escapes

At home here on the farm there is a vast area to escape in. However when i had the heart attack I found that my mind was roaming far away in a land that was unknown to me. The land was strong and colourful and safe and free of demands. A place to escape in.The paintings in this category are about that, a place to escape take time and heal. A place for you to be you.

A place you can go to as quick as you can think of it.

As this is a new site please bear with me as i learn how to upload photos etc. They will be here soon.

Take Care,Warm Regards

Paintings

Being an artist has come into my life in a very spiritual way and I am very grateful for it.I started painting about seven years now when i saw visions of paintings in my dreams.I still do. I started painting with acrylic and then charcoal drawings, mostly portrait and more recently I work with oils. Now I use whatever I feel is right for the moment. Texture pastes are great and gold foil has a part to play also.

My current work is on the theme of the land, the atmosphere of belonging and the colour of being.

I am excited to have the web site to share my art with you.Let me know what you think.

Warm Regards

Necia
