At home here on the farm there is a vast area to escape in. However when i had the heart attack I found that my mind was roaming far away in a land that was unknown to me. The land was strong and colourful and safe and free of demands. A place to escape in.The paintings in this category are about that, a place to escape take time and heal. A place for you to be you.
A place you can go to as quick as you can think of it.
As this is a new site please bear with me as i learn how to upload photos etc. They will be here soon.
Take Care,Warm Regards

Being an artist has come into my life in a very spiritual way and I am very grateful for it.I started painting about seven years now when i saw visions of paintings in my dreams.I still do. I started painting with acrylic and then charcoal drawings, mostly portrait and more recently I work with oils. Now I use whatever I feel is right for the moment. Texture pastes are great and gold foil has a part to play also.
My current work is on the theme of the land, the atmosphere of belonging and the colour of being.
I am excited to have the web site to share my art with you.Let me know what you think.
Warm Regards

I have found Dream Therapy to be a very insightful, helpful, spiritual experience. I have a degree in Social Science, Dispute Resolution and several Masters papers including Discursive therapy and Indigenous Research and the study of dreams is just fascinating.
My art life began when I kept seeing paintings in my dreams. I still do. The most recent painting I have created this way is called ‘Water Veil’. It is on display at the Real Tart Gallery in New PLymouth. As I learn how to manage this site I will upload photos for you to view.
In the near future I would like to offer Dream Therapy in my art studio, the Barn, or we have a little cabin here on the farm that will be available for people to come and stay. The stay can be simply a get away or a personal retreat to take time to consider your life. Talking about your dreams could be a part of this.Enquiries through the email.
I highly recommend Dream Workshops by Margaret Bowater. Soon I can put a link to her site from here ( she is building one at the moment). That site will have a list of workshops etc.

What a buzz writing plays! I find I certainly need to have a block of time set aside just for this creative process as every character comes so alive in my mind it’s hard to turn it off and switch back to the real world of cooking tea or grocery shopping.
A couple of years ago I wrote the main body of a play in a few days. It’s amazing how it takes years to to the fiddly bits! I really love it though and since my heart attack I have decided that I will spoil myself with the indulgence of time to finish some of my simmering projects. This play is one of them.I will have it finished for PlayMarket in early December.
Do you have something you really want to do for you? Why not allow yourself the gift of time and do it.

Nothing can feed your soul like a poem that you identify with. The power in words is amazing and sometimes I just love to add colour to those words and the piece of art becomes another dimension as it tells or supports a particular poem. I have moments when the flow of writing poetry is very strong. It’s like a season. A time to write and a time to rest.
In the right time i will put some of my poems in book form.
Titles are;
My Earth
Hush

Winter seems the perfect time for sitting by the fire and letting the word drama begin! I have a series of five little books that I started last winter,
it is my goal to complete the process this winter and have the books ready for Christmas 09.
The story is about a felt woman that loves to collect firewood. Her world is soft, safe and warm. I think the stories are perfect for creating a quiet, gentle time just before bed.
I have sourced a sustainable forest paper grown right here in New Zealand. It feels good to have a book that is great to hold as well as to read! Most of all I love it when my kids read the books. It’s a great feeling to share that time together and really cute when you have made the book at home. Everyone has a great story to tell, what’s yours?

From the local paper:
In January this year, at the age of 46, Necia Prior had a heart attack.
She still struggles to understand how and why it happened
Now recovered, she has found art as a useful outlet and the result is “Dreaming the Healing” which is now being exhibited at Waitara Arts Space, in McLean St, Waitara.
“The emotion the experience caused has been hard to describe, so I have placed my trust in art to be my confidante,” she explains.
Necia had been painting for nearly seven years and started because she could see paintings in her dreams.
In “Dreaming the Healing”, the Lepperton artist coins the phrase Land Escpaes.
The use of sunsets, waterfalls or vast horizons as well as space, movement and colour allows fast, effective ways for the mind to escape.
This unwinding creates a peaceful place to rest “away from everything is the real world”, she says
Necia’s other passion is writing. She has now written poetry, a book series for children, and a play that is destined for Playmarket NZ in December.
The exhibition runs until June 21
Opening hours at Waitara Arts Space are Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 3pm.
